Unit 4: Learning Aim D

 Unit 4: Learning Aim D

Introduction:

For my Pre-Production, I have carefully structured everything that will help me to proceed further into actually making the production for my film called "The School Thieves. It will help my team to be very organised to getting things completed on certain deadlines.

Elements of Pre-Production

  • Logistics
It is essential that my pre-production for my film runs smoothly as possible to create the best quality film. The first step I took to run the pre-production is creating a word document that had a list of the people that will be taking part in my film. It helps the actors know what character they will be playing as and what role they play in the film. Another step I did when creating the pre-production is creating a broad production schedule that helped to know when to get each tasks of the pre-production stage done.
  • Finance
When creating the table for how much to spend on certain parts of the film, I ran into no finical issues with the costs of the film. The only problem is the expensive price of a drone with a camera. Next time I make a production I will need to ensure that I find a drone camera that isn't too expensive nor cheap.
  • Creative Process
During the creative process, I had to consider the concept of the film and how it would look like which turned out to be entertaining to create. The thing that helped with the process the most was story boarding the film to help have a visual concept of the film which was beneficial as if the director of the production company does not like certain scenes in the film, it could be changed easily. One thing I could have done to make the creative process even better is coming up with creative shot list types that could make the final product of the film more interesting and engaging.

Project Management
  • Personnel Management
In order to convince people to join my production, I had to email them if they would like to take part in my film. If they wanted to join my production I would ask for their contact details and put it into a word document table named Cast & Crew. Next, time I get people involved I need to make sure I show them what the film will be about and the characters that will be needed in it.
  • Resource Management
For the resource Management, I took into location one of the locations that had lots of tables and chairs and the risk was that the cast and crew team might walk into them resulting in an injury. I did not have a backup plan for the locations that the crew was going to film at for the rest of the locations so next time I will need to consider that.

  • Time Management
During the pre-production stage, I created a table that had a list of the times to get certain stages of the production done by. Next time I do another production, I will need to make sure I include the shooting days of when I will film scenes for my film.
  • Risk Assignment
For My Risk assignment, I took into consideration the dangerous of using some of the equipment that will be used for the film. One of the risks for one of the equipment the drone with the camera. The risks was that the drone camera could lose control due to radio frequency interference which will result in the equipment breaking.
  • Professional Practice
During the process of emailing people to take part in my film, I remained professional at all times which made this part of the the management successful. If I was to do another production next time, I will continue to remain professional.
  • Monitoring Progress
While I was creating the pre-production for the film, I monitored the progress of the pre-production through deadlines to get the work done by which helped to keep the production organised.
  • Maintaining Documentation
For the Documentation, the overall process finding a template was successful and simple to use as I was able to find to create my own documents using word document which made the process fast. The part difficult was finding templates for Lighting Test Shots and the shooting schedules.
  • Problems/Difficulties with Project Management
When creating the pre-production the difficulty I faced was finding people to take part in my film and finding the correct type of shot angles and types for the shot list. For next time I do a production I need to find a way to fix this.
  • Crisis Management
For the crisis Management I did not include this which over made this part of the production unsuccessful. Next time, I will need to consider this as it will be essential if something goes wrong. For example, one of the equipment needed to be used for one of scenes for my film stops working and our team needs to get it done on the same day.
  • Improving in Future Productions
Overall, I will ensure that the pre-production that I have currently created now to be better than this one by spending more time on risk assignment to avoid any injuries that may occur when filming the final production.
